Alexey Smirnov, known in poker circles as AS Leshiy, rose swiftly through the ranks, gaining accolades as an ambitious and skilled player. In March 2017, Smirnov joined Pocarr, a prominent poker backing group, where he also served as a coach. However, his tenure with Pocarr turned contentious by September 2022. Despite already enjoying favorable terms—reportedly the best within the organization—Smirnov issued an ultimatum demanding further enhancements. When rebuffed, he unilaterally severed ties, violating contractual obligations. This move included disregarding clauses on early termination, loan repayment, and player make-up reimbursement, resulting in accumulated debts totaling $138,492.96.
Disputes over rakeback allocation further exacerbated tensions. Smirnov claimed entitlement to a different distribution, contrary to the contractual agreement. Mediating efforts proved fruitless, leaving unresolved arbitrations on major poker forums like Two Plus Two and Gipsyteam.
